at the University of Manchester Special Collections
Jodrell Bank’s official archive is held at the University of Manchester Library.
It is a fascinating and extensive record of the development, operation and administration of the Observatory from the late 1940s. The majority of the material was donated by Sir Bernard Lovell, founder and director of the Observatory until 1981, and as a result it reflects his directorship. However, the archive is growing with new material unearthed on site at Jodrell.
