bluedot is the multi-award winning festival of discovery that takes place every summer here at Jodrell Bank, in the shadow of the giant Lovell Telescope.
We first established the festival in 2016 after developing a series of one day concert events that deliberately positioned science as a part of culture. Live From Jodrell Bank saw big name music performers such as Elbow and The Flaming Lips perform alongside interactive science activities and projections on to the Lovell Telescope. Today, bluedot has become a much-loved 4 day long camping festival and celebration of science, music, arts and culture that attracts over 25,000 people.
The 2019 festival was our biggest yet, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings with headliners Kraftwerk, Hot Chip and New Order playing to sell-out crowds, packed-out talks by James Burke, Jim Al-Khalili, Helen Sharman, and Dallas Campbell, and a host of interactive science shows, exhibitions and events.
bluedot will return on 22-25 July 2021 with much of the planned 2020 programme. You can find out more about this here…
