
Filming & Location Shoots
Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is a popular location for filming, and we welcome commercial film and photographic crews of all sizes to our one-of-a-kind site, which features the iconic Lovell telescope, cutting-edge visitor facilities, and stunning views of the Cheshire countryside.
Our filming team is experienced in supporting both small- and large-scale productions. We invite applications for feature films, television documentaries, videos, and commercials.

Photoshoots
The Jodrell Bank Centre of Engagement site and its grounds are also available for hire for photoshoots, subject to the conditions outlined in the guidelines above.
Past Productions
- A Very British Space Launch (2023): Documentary exploring the UK’s space ambitions, featuring the iconic Lovell Telescope.
- The Sky at Night (BBC, ongoing): The long-running astronomy series has filmed multiple segments at Jodrell Bank.
- Brian Cox: Universe (BBC, 2021): The physicist visited Jodrell Bank to discuss black holes and the evolution of galaxies.
- Stargazing Live (BBC, 2011–2017): The popular live astronomy series was broadcast annually from Jodrell Bank, hosted by Professor Brian Cox and Dara Ó Briain.
- Doctor Who (2010): Featured exterior shots of the Lovell Telescope in the episode The Eleventh Hour.
- The Universe: Our Solar System (National Geographic, 2019): Included interviews and footage filmed at Jodrell Bank.
- BBC Proms at Jodrell Bank (2019): A special outdoor concert celebrating science and music beneath the Lovell Telescope.
- Blue Peter (BBC, various years): The children’s show has filmed several educational segments at Jodrell Bank over the decades.
- The Science of Starlight (BBC Four, 2015): Documentary exploring the technology and history of radio astronomy at Jodrell Bank.
