Youth Groups

From Beavers to Brownies, we welcome bookings from all uniformed groups or any other children’s groups.

By booking in advance, groups can access a range of benefits including:

  • Discounted rates on admission.
  • Free coach or minibus parking.
  • 1 complimentary adult admission ticket, for every 10 child admission tickets purchased.

 

When booking a group visit, please note:

  • Group visits are self-guided.
  • The suggested entry times for groups are 11:30am or 2pm.
  • To classify as a youth group there needs to be a minimum of 10 children purchasing an admission ticket. The maximum group size is 55 visitors.
  • All members of the group must check-in at the same time.
  • Group payments must be done as one transaction, we won’t be able to charge each member of the group individually.
  • Group tickets are only valid for day-admission, and do not include an annual ticket.
  • Group tickets must be paid in advance.

 

If you wish to reserve a date, you are welcome to make a deposit payment, by booking only 10 child admission tickets (the minimum required to classify as a youth group). You can later add more tickets to your booking by emailing us at groupsjodrellbank@manchester.ac.uk . You would then have up to 3-working days before the visit to pay for the balance of your booking.

Youth Groups

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Do I have to pre-book a youth group visit?

Yes, youth groups are required to book in advance in order to benefit from the group rate.

 

How many people can we bring? 

Our group rates are available for groups between 10 – 55 visitors.

 

How do I book and pay?

You can  book and pay by bank card  online here. Our booking system will guide you through the process so that you can:

  • Choose your visit date and arrival time.
  • Select a range of ticket types (such as adult, senior, student, child). Remember you receive 1 free adult admission for every 10 children booked.
  • Add on an optional Dome Show for your group to enjoy.
  • Book your free coach parking (if required).

If paying by cheque, deposits must be paid no later than 30 days before the visit, otherwise the group slot will be released.

 

Can I reserve a date? 

You can reserve a date, by paying a deposit payment equivalent to 10 admission tickets (the minimum required to classify as a group). You can later on add more tickets to your booking by emailing us at groupsjodrellbank@manchester.ac.uk . You would then have up to 3-working days before the visit to pay the remaining balance of your booking.

 

Can I change the date of the visit? 

If you need to change the date of your booking you may do so if it is more than 30 days away. Please contact us via email groupsjodrellbank@manchester.ac.uk and we will do our best to accommodate a change. Any changes are subject to availability.

We regret that we are not able to reschedule your visit if it is less than 30 days away and you will continue to be liable for the deposit. Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is a not-for-profit organisation; every booking is important to sustain our business so that we can continue to offer learning opportunities.

 

Can I cancel a booking? 

If cancelling a confirmed booking, we will be unable to refund any purchased tickets.

 

Can I add more tickets to our booking?

You can increase the number of tickets on your booking up to 3-working days before your visit. Please email us at groupsjodrellbank@manchester.ac.uk letting us know your booking reference, and the number and type of tickets (e.g. adult, child)  you wish to add. We will then send you a link to pay for the extra tickets.

 

Can I reduce the number of tickets on our booking? 

Group tickets are non-refundable. If a member of the group does not attend the visit, this will be considered a no-show and no refund will be provided.

 

What happens if we are running late or early?

Jodrell Bank opens at 10am, please note, we are unable to allow your group on site before this time.

If you have booked a paid activity an your journey is delayed, you should contact us at 01477-571-766 and provide an estimated time of arrival. We will make every effort to accommodate any late arrivals, however this cannot be guaranteed. Please note, we do not offer refunds for any missed activities in whole or in part due to late arrival.

 

I have access requirements, what can I do to ensure my visit goes smoothly?

What will we be able to do?

Your group will be able to explore Jodrell Bank’s Pavilions, exhibitions, and grounds. You can visit our shop and café, and you can choose to add-on a Space Dome show.

Please note that apart from any Explainer-led activity, your visit will be self-guided. For groups bringing young learners, we recommend downloading and printing copies of our exhibitions worksheets (don’t forget to bring pencils or pens!).

Does a group visit include a guided tour? 

No, group visits are self-guided.

 

Does a group booking include an annual ticket?

No, group bookings are for a day admission only, and do not include an annual ticket.

 

Some members of the group already have an annual ticket, can they use it?

Annual tickets holders will need to make a separate booking, using their member identity number.
