Exploring the Universe!

Ever thought about exploring the realms of the universe, or how it might feel to be immersed in the wonders of astrophysics? A week of Work Experience might be your gateway to such adventures, and Jodrell Bank offers just that opportunity!

A New Voyage Begins

This year saw the start of the Jodrell Bank Engagement work experience programme. Students who secured a place spent their week shadowing the seasoned experts of Jodrell Bank. The experience was all about getting immersed in the incredible science and rich heritage that Jodrell Bank proudly shares with school children, visitors and groups all year round.

The Highlights?

The young crew were not only able to observe, but participate in running the state-of-the-art Space Dome planetarium. Helping to deliver science talks and engaging with visitors made it evident that we had a group of emerging science communicators in our midst. Their aptitude was truly commendable!

The Stars of Tomorrow

Among our participants this summer, we had Grace. A keen astronomer, and with ambitions of studying Maths at university, she represents the next wave of scientific minds.

And then, there’s Oliver. About to embark upon his GSCE’s, and living just a stone’s throw away, he sees the iconic Lovell Telescope on his daily commute to college. Inspired by this, Oliver felt an irresistible pull to be a part of the experience.

Wrapping Up the Cosmic Journey

Work experiences, especially at UNESCO World Heritage sites like Jodrell Bank, are more than just learning stints. They’re about passion, community, and nurturing the curious mind. If the stars align and you get an opportunity to be part of this or a similar experience, don’t hesitate. The universe, after all, has endless mysteries waiting for you to unravel.
