We’re delighted to announce Jodrell’s Space Dome is one of the livestream venues for this year’s Christmas Lectures from the prestigious Royal Institution.

Running for over 200 years, the Christmas Lectures were founded by Michael Faraday to inspire and engage young people with the wonders of science. This year, join leading space scientist Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock as she takes us on an epic voyage through time and space…*

Children and adults alike are invited to watch the magic of the Lectures unfold in real time, take part in hands-on activities, and be amazed by the mysteries of the Universe.

With a line-up of very special guests – from astronauts to pioneering astronomers – Maggie will explore the breakthroughs that have transformed our understanding of the Universe, allowing us to see ever further into space and back in time.

As one of the scientists who helped develop the James Webb Telescope, the most powerful space telescope ever created, Maggie will uncover how this incredible “time-travelling” instrument – launched on Christmas Day 2021 – is rewriting the story of the Big Bang. Using its breathtaking images, she’ll reveal how we can now witness the birth of the very first stars and galaxies.

Other highlights include exploring humanity’s enduring relationship with the Moon – especially as NASA prepares for our return, discovering the latest technologies shaping our view of the cosmos, and revisiting some of the most memorable experiments from Lectures past.

In this landmark anniversary year, the 2025 Christmas Lectures promise to be a spectacular celebration of our Universe and of the astounding human endeavours that are allowing us to solve its mysteries.
