Astro Night: Adults

Navigate the night sky like never before at Jodrell Bank…

Astro Night: Adults

17 Jan, 2026

£20 – £24

Saturday 17 January, 2026. 19.00 – 21.00.

The iconic Lovell Telescope has long-been a gateway to understanding the Universe, and now it’s your turn, as our popular Astro Nights return to Jodrell Bank this winter.

Kick off the evening in our immersive Space Dome, where you’ll navigate the night sky guided by our expert team! Prepare to get up close with planets, constellations, and discover the many ways people have charted the cosmos throughout history…

Then, enter the world of astronomy with Macclesfield Astronomical Society, learning essential observation tips and tricks to prepare your eyes for the skies.

Finally, you’ll have the chance to get hands-on with a selection of telescopes and binoculars! Weather permitting, the team will help you apply your newfound knowledge to tracing constellations, stars, and galaxies – what will you discover?

Don’t forget to stop by the First Light Café where you can enjoy a delicious selection of drinks and treats – from hot dogs to hot chocolate – truly the icing on the cake!

Due to the popularity of this event, we recommend booking early to secure your spot.

Please note that observing the night sky is weather permitting, and appropriate clothing (warm clothes and sturdy shoes) is recommended. If weather conditions are poor, alternative activities will be on offer and the event will happen as scheduled. Tickets are non-refundable.

This event is recommended for those aged 14+, and any person aged under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For child-friendly events, please visit Astro Night: Kids.

Please let us know if you have any access requirements before the event so we can best support you by contacting jodrellbank@manchester.ac.uk. Find out more about our accessibility here.
