Volunteering at Jodrell Bank

Volunteering at Jodrell Bank

The First Light Project is a transformative moment for Jodrell Bank that will change the way we engage our visitors with the science and stories of this internationally significant site.

Public and community engagement is at the core of this project, which aims to connect the broadest range of people with the science, culture, and heritage of Jodrell Bank through a wealth of different activities.

Therefore, our volunteering program will offer members of the community new ways to lend their support and directly involve themselves within the site.

We’ve already delivered various volunteering projects, from Gardening to engaging visitors and even helping others explore the night sky through our Stargazing events.

Over the Summer, volunteers assisted with our daytime visitor program taking part in everything from discussing the importance of the Lovell Telescope to performing science experiments for our younger audiences.

Thomas Wadsack assisted Jodrell Bank as part of our Engagement team and had the following to say about his experience:

Thomas Wadsack Testimony

“My time volunteering at Jodrell Bank provided me with an invaluable insight into the world of science, and being able to talk to the public about Physics was an amazing opportunity.” – Thomas Wadsack

If you’re looking to get involved, our Engagement Team is always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers, especially during the busy school holiday periods.
