Gardens and Wildlife

Summer is here! What better time to enjoy the great outdoors? This instalment of Science Learning at Home is all about gardens and wildlife. Did you know that there are around 35 acres of gardens and arboretum (a collection of trees) at Jodrell Bank? Learn about its history here. You can also discover Sir Bernard Lovell’s passion for trees and his first arboretum at The Quinta, his home in nearby Swettenham.

We’ve got some great outdoor activities for you too, including making you own bird feeders and Bee ‘n’ Bees! There’s a fun new colouring sheet as well -can you name all the animals and insects? We’ve also provided some pointers to fantastic resources from our friends at Cheshire Wildlife Trust and the RSPB, and, why not get involved in some Citizen Science?

Have fun!
