Culture

Jodrell Bank is one of The University of Manchester’s Cultural Institutions.

The site, with its endearing iconography and fascinating heritage, has captured the imagination of people across the globe and has permeated popular culture, inspiring writers, artists, musicians and more.

Featured in works of fiction and non-fiction (as well as simply being an iconic point on the Cheshire skyline), Jodrell Bank is a crucial part of the fabric of British scientific endeavour, and remains a site of constant exploration and interest to all.

It is also a cultural venue, hosting incredible events including our annual festival of discovery, bluedot.

Four days of music, science and cosmic culture in the shadow of the mighty Lovell Telescope.

After another incredible festival in summer 2023, bluedot will be taking a fallow year in 2024 to allow the ground some much needed recovery time
